Abstract

1,189,797. Cassette players. WURLITZER CO. 31 Jan., 1969 [3 Feb., 1968], No. 5417/69. Heading G5R. A tape cassette player includes flat cassettes 7 arranged in radial planes on a rotary magazine 2 and movable to a playing position at a playing station 3. A motor 16 rotates the magazine to the selected location and then reverses so that a pin 21 and slot 22 raise a cam 12 to tilt a spring-loaded, L-shaped holder 6 for each cassette into the operative position. The cassette operates a microswitch 41 to energize a motor 36 which rotates a cam 34 through 90 degrees in the appropriate direction allowing one of two rollers 37 to drop in a notch 38 and cause links 33, 31 to tilt the appropriate one of two transducer/transport assemblies 13, 14 into engagement with the cassette under spring force 39. The appropriate head 27 is automatically lowered by a Bowden cable 40 to play one of two tracks. A magnet 46 is coupled to the feed spool to operate a reed switch 47 twice per revolution and thereby feed an integrator circuit (Fig. 4, not shown) arranged to stop transport when the feed spool stops, a slipping clutch being provided at the take-up spool. During, or after, play by one transport, the other may be engaged to play or rewind the tape.
