[Also in Division B5] A pad for handling hot articles comprises a layer 1 of fabric e.g. terry cloth treated to make it flame flash proof e.g. with a silicone or a synthetic resin, a film 2 of flexible plastics material and a further layer 3 of fabric e.g. pre-shrunk canvas all secured together by stitching 5. The pad shown has an additional layer 4 of preshrunk canvas and is provided with a hand or wrist strap 6; alternatively, a cotton fabric can be sewn to the back of the pad to form a pocket into which the hand of the used can be inserted.
