Abstract

1,188,021. Flexible fire escape. D. J. GWILLIAM. 26 Jan., 1968 [27 Jan., 1967], No. 4186/67. Heading A6L. A fire escape comprises a flexible ladder housed when not in use in a box 10 fixed under a window cill, and being provided with a rigid stabilising frame 26 near its upper end, said frame having four spacing arms 34, horizontal and vertical frame members 28 (Fig. 2, not shown) and 30, and curved grips 32, the face 50 (Fig. 3, not shown) of the frame which faces downwards when in the box 10 being fitted with a sheet of material to form a shelf, said frame housing that portion of the ladder below the frame when the ladder is housed in the box 10. The ladder is also provided with a pair of hand grips 24 and a pair of lower spacing arms 38.
