Abstract
1,187,954. Automatic voltage control. TELEVISION INSTRUMENTS Ltd. Aug. 18, 1967 [Aug. 24, 1966] , No.38083/66. Heading G3R. The unidirectional output voltage of a generating circuit, e.g. the E.H.T. supply of a television set, is stabilized by a feedback loop which includes a reactive voltage divider network responsive to A. C. variations, such as ripple, in the stabilized output voltage, and a resistive voltage divider, including a voltage dependent resistor, responsive to D. C. variations in the output voltage. As shown, a voltage generator 1, including a pentode 5, a transformer 11, diodes 14, 15 and a capacitor 13 produces an E.H.T. voltage at output terminal 16; a stabilizing circuit 30, comprising triodes 31, 37, has an input terminal 32 connected over a feedback loop 20 to the E.H.T. terminal 16 and has its output connected to the screen grid 41 of the pentode 5 which is thereby correctively controlled in dependence upon variations in the E. H. T. output voltage as detected by the feedback loop. Alternating variations caused by ripple, for example, are detected by the capacitive voltage divider 23, 24, and are applied to the terminal 32 by way of a resistor 26 and a further capacitor 27. Steady, long term, variations are detected by the resistive voltage divider comprising a voltage dependent resistor 21, a resistor 28 and an adjustable resistor 29, the junction between resistors 21 and 28 being connected to the terminal 32. The stabilizing arrangement may be of the shunt valve type, and such an embodiment is described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown). .
