[Also in Division D1] A machine for automatically aligning bobbins 1 which are wider at one end than the other and inserting the bobbins in a case 31 comprises an inclined receiver 2 for the bobbins, at least one correspondingly inclined elevator 8 having pusher elements 9 spaced apart and running in a channel formed in the receiver bottom, each pusher element 9 being intended for one bobbin, a substantially horizontal double track conveyer 19 adjacent the top end of the elevator and comprising two conveyer tracks parallel to each other and spaced apart a distance slightly less than the diameter of the wide end of the bobbin 1 so that the bobbins 1 hang between the conveyer tracks and are supported by their wide ends, a device 29 being disposed at the delivery end of the conveyer to swing up the bobbin end in the direction opposite to the direction of transport, and a guide means 30 being provided for introducing the falling bobbins, wide end forwards, into a transport case 31. The channel in the bottom of the receiver 2 is slightly greater than the outside diameter of the bobbin wide end and the distance between the pusher elements 9 being slightly greater than the overall length of the bobbin. The elevator 8 is preferably in the form of an endless V-belt and runs in the matchingly profiled bottom portion of the channel in the receiver. At the upper end of the receiver, the elevator is guided through a passage having relatively tall vertical walls 18, the end face 118 of which is bevelled to deflect any bobbin which is lying transverse to the direction of movement of the elevator. The pulleys for the top end of the elevator and the receiving end of the double track conveyer are mounted on a common shaft 13. The double track conveyer is also preferably in the form of endless V-belts which run in matchingly profiled preferably adjustable supporting rails. The device for swinging up the bobbin ends comprises a channel-shaped member 29 inclined downwardly into the path of the bobbins. A tipping box 3, 5 is provided for supplying bobbins to the receiver 2.
