Abstract

1,186,909. Bags. DEPENDABLE PACKS Ltd. 24 June, 1968 [24 Nov., 1967], No. 53567/67. Heading B8K. [Also in Division B5] A web, which may be formed into an envelope package, comprises outer plies pl, p3 of paper and an intermediate ply p2 of backed corrugated paper sheet, and the outer plies are secured to each other along the edges, e.g. the upper edge in Fig. 1, the narrower intermediate ply p2 being secured to one of the outer plies p3 at least along its edge portions, e.g. 6. Preferably, the outer plies pl and p3 are respectively of calendered kraft paper coated with polyethylene and of a laminate comprising two webs of water-proof paper bonded together with their grains mutually perpendicular by a pitch-like adhesive. The envelope package is formed by folding the web at 1, with the coated kraft paper ply pl innermost, to form one edge of the package, stitching the opposed edge parts of the web at 7 to form the base of the package, and stitching the ends of the web at 8 to form the other edge 2 of the package. Before stitching, the edge parts and ends of the web are embraced by folded strips 9 of crepe paper.
