Abstract

1,186,821. Coatings. ALLIED CHEMICAL CORP. 2 Jan., 1968 [6 Jan., 1967], No. 344/68. Heading B2K. [Also in Division C3] A coating composition comprises (1) a polymer obtainable by reaction between (a) an intermediate acrylic based polymer derived from an acrylate or methacrylate and containing free hydroxyl groups, and (b) a siloxane polymer containing at least one alkoxyl group in amount sufficient to provide at least 0.02 equivalents of alkoxyl for each equivalent of hydroxyl in the intermediate acrylic based polymer (a), (2) a resin capable of reacting with free hydroxyl groups e.g. a melamine resin, (3) a liquid vehicle e.g. xylol and (4) optionally plastciszers, anti-foaming and antiskinning agents, and pigments e.g. TiO 2 . The coating composition may be applied to a substrate (wood and metal are mentioned) by spray coating and hardened by baking.
