1,186,315. Photographic silver halide developer. CHEMISCHE LABORATORIUM FRITZ-WALTER LANGE G.m.b.H. May 31, 1968 [June 1, 1967], No.26176/68. Heading G2C. A photographic silver halide developer giving a brown toned silver image contains hydroquinone and 0.01 - 1.0% of 3:4-diaminopyridine or a compound of the formula:- where R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are each hydrogen, alkyl of C 1 - C 4 , hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl or alkoxyalkyl and X and Y are each hydrogen, hydroxyl or alkoxy. Other developing agents such as metal, 1-phenyl-pyrazolidone and 1-phenyl-3- amino-pyrazolidone may be present.
