Abstract

1,185,855. Shop counters. CATER BROS. (PROVISIONS) Ltd. 8 Nov., 1968 [9 Aug., 1967], No. 36601/67. Heading A4T. A check-out counter has a grid 1 holding the customer's wire basket with goods, a platform 2 receiving the goods which are swept on to an endless conveyer 3 by a U-rake 4, the rake movement starting the conveyer under electric control of the cashier's foot pedal 14 at desk 6. The goods move up to a stop bar 5 where they are checked and placed on a packing platform 9b. At position 7 a bag blower opens the top bag on a rack of bags ready for receiving wet goods. The goods on platform 9b are then packed into a carrier bag hanging on hook 11. During rush periods, a box member 8 is slid from position 8b to 8a and a second operator packs goods in a bag hanging at hook 10 on platform 9a. The conveyer may move independently.
