A motor fuel comprises gasoline, 1-20 vol.% of tertiary-butyl alcohol and 20-100 p.p.m. by weight of a dimer of a C 18 unsaturated fatty acid e.g. dilinoleic acid. The fuel may also contain tetraethyl lead, tricresyl phosphate, and the condensation product of methyl oleate and N-beta-hydroxyethyl ethylenediamine.
