Abstract

1,185,028. Embossing rollers. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd., D. J. BARBER, and J. R. BARLOW. 13 June, 1967 [17 June, 1966], No. 27147/66. Heading B6J. An embossing roller is provided with a surface consisting of a cast epoxy resin. Preferably, the roller is incorporated in an embossing device of the type illustrated in Fig. 1 of Specification 711,771 as the mating roller; this roller comprises a hard mandrel, e.g. steel, covered with a thin sleeve of the epoxy resin, the thickness of the sleeve being not greater than 2 mm. This roller is provided with an impression corresponding to the pattern or design on the engraved embossing roller, by applying heat to the hard steel of the latter, and then pressing the engraved roller and the mating roller together while slowly rotating, a torque of around 60 pounds-feet being applied at 70‹ C.
