Abstract

1,184,419. Electrostatic generators. ALBANY FELT CO. 15 Jan., 1969 [20 Feb., 1968], No. 2440/69. Heading H2A. [Also in Division G1] A device for measuring the relative electrostatic properties of sheet materials comprises a pivoted frame 20 . . . 23 for supporting a testpiece 19 of sheet material under a predetermined tension, a weight 32 and cord 29 attached to the frame for holding the test-piece 19 in rubbing contact with a reference material 35 mounted on a wheel driven by a motor 10, and a probe 11 mounted so that it can be moved into contact with the test-piece after disengagement of the latter from the reference material, the probe being connected to a charge-measuring meter. The motor and probe are mounted on a platform 12 slidable on rods 14, 15. After charging the test-piece, the frame is swung away from the wheel and the platform is slid to the right in the figure to bring the probe into the measuring position.
