Abstract
1,184,382. Dredgers. D. CERUTTI. 22 Nov., 1967 [26 Nov., 1966], No. 53037/67. Heading B7A. [Also in Division E1] Excavating apparatus supported ahead of a self-propelled floating dredge is connected to the hull of the vessel by balance levers 19 pivotally mounted on shafts 21 extending from the sides of the hull. The balance levers 19 are linked to power-operated jacks 13 for raising and lowering the excavating apparatus relative to the vessel. The apparatus shown includes three motor saws 1, 2, 3, endless excavating belts 4, 5, 6 and a detritus conveyor belt 8 which transfers the excavated material to suction, collection and discharge chamber 12. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the ejector pipes 16 are supported by amphibious vessels 33 and 34 each with a paddle drive wheel 36 and 35 and hydraulic lifting device for driving the amphibious vessels if they become grounded on sandbanks or shoals.
