Abstract
1,183,293. Resistance thermometers. CHEMIEFASERKOMBINAT WILHELM-PIECKSTADT GUBEN VEB. 1 April, 1968, No. 15535/68. Heading H1K. Errors in measuring the temperature of a medium, e.g. molten plastics, flowing in a tube with heated walls are minimized by using a temperature sensitive resistor disposed within a probe the tapered and streamlined tip of which projects into the medium but which is thermally insulated from both the wall and the outside ambient. In the construction shown a platinum coil is disposed in the probe which is centred in an aperture in the wall by metal washer 4 and clamping bolt 11 to leave air gaps 10, 16 between it and the wall and bolt respectively. The entire assembly, including clamp 12 to which the resistance element is fixed by its leads 17 for easy demountability, is coated with thermal insulation 13.
