Abstract

1,183,271. Television; optical apparatus. MARCONI CO. Ltd. 18 Sept.. 1968 [9 Jan., 1968], No. 1272/68. Heading H4F. [Also in Division G2] A lens system for use in a television camera is arranged to pass a number of juxtaposed images and utilizes an aperture relay lens which is little or no larger than that utilized when a single image is passed without an objectionable reduction in the sensitivity of the system. As shown this is achieved by providing a field lens system comprising lenses 13, 14 and 15. The ray paths to the juxtaposed images 10 and 20 at the camera tube 17 each pass through one of the lenses 13 or 14. These are such that, when viewing from the images formed at 18 and 19 back towards the subject, the aperture of the objective lens 1 appears to be at infinity. Lens 15 serves to focus the aperture of the objective lens on to the aperture relay lens 16. The invention may be utilized in a colour television system by employing a camera 6 as the luminance or green camera and camera 17 as the red and blue camera in which case a colour splitting device is employed as shown such that images 10 and 20 form the red and blue images.
