Spring devices.-Relates to the chain casing, chain adjustment, and rear-frame spring suspension of a n,otor - cycle or like vehicle having a chaindriven rear driving- wheel. The driving- wheel B is mounted in the rear end of an horizontal tubular H-frame A, the front end being formed as eccentric straps A<1> enclosing eccentric sheaves C, whereby the frame is pivoted on trunnions D' upon a gear-box D. T h e transverse driving-shaft 0 extends through one of the trunnions and is connected to the usual chain and sprocket gear K, J. The chain casing consists of a plate I mounted on brackets A<2> on the frame and having a flanged dished cover I', the forward end of the plate being carried by the adjacent eccentric sheave. The sheaves are rotated to adjust the tension of the chain by means of suitably actuated arms C, after the straps have been slackened. The rear frame is completed by a yoke T pivoted respectively to the rear ends of the H- frame and to the arms of the cantilever springs S, the front ends of which are clamped to a tubular cross-member Q of the main frame.
