[Also in Division E1] A boom 10 supporting a gunning lance 11 in stirrups 87 and a water pipe 50 is mounted for pivoting about a vertical axis on a pedestal 20. The boom 10 can also be tilted about a horizontal axis, and lance 11 can be turned about its longitudinal axis by means of a slotted wheel 41 to which it is secured. The pedestal 20 is mounted on a platform 17 having two independently driven wheels 60 and a trailing wheel 59. A heat screen 57 is arranged between the furnace to be repaired and the operator's platform 17. In a modification, Fig. 6, not shown, the boom is pivoted to a structure at the free end of a support arranged to rotate about a pedestal. The boom may be articulated so that it can be folded for storage.
