A method of drying objects, e.g. transformer coils, comprises an enclosure in a space defined at least partly by a casing of air impermeable flexible material, e.g. plastics, in which the pressure is reduced to below atmospheric and the object is placed on a base and is heated at least partially by a source of heat external of the casing and the humidity is drawn off from the object. A radiation lamp may provide the heat source of up to 150‹ C. and the casing is made of transparent flexible material.
