Acrylic acid is recovered from its aqueous solutions by solvent extraction using n-butyl acrylate or 2-ethylhexyl alcohol. Examples describe the use of a continuous process operating in the temperature range 20‹ to 70‹ C. Esterification of the extracted acrylic acid with n-butyl alcohol or 2-ethylhexyl alcohol may be carried out without complete separation from the extract.
