Abstract
1,182,468. Junction boxes. H. & L. APPLEBY Ltd. 12 June, 1967 [24 June, 1966], No. 26883/67. Divided out of 1,180,394. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H1] A wall-box assembly, of the type used for mineral-insulated cables, having an external cable clamp to support and retain the cables entering the box 10 has, at the cable entry, two arms 15 integral with or permanently fixed to the box and a separate cross member 22 engageable with the arms at their free ends to form one part of the cable clamp. The cross member has at least one channel-shaped recess 23 to receive a cable and has two lugs 24 to engage notches 17 in the arms 15 to hold it in position, the arms being sprung together transversely during assembly to allow engagement. Threaded holes 20 in the arms 15 allow the attachment of the second part 29 of the clamp which has recesses 33 to co-operate with the recesses 23 in the cross member to hold the cables. The pot seals at the terminations of the mineral-insulated cables are accommodated in aperture 40 and channels 35 in the clamp. The box and clamps are made from sheet metal, and all slots in the clamp may be closed initially by knock out panels.
