Abstract
1,182,094. Rotary pumps. KOVOPODNIK MESTSKY PRUMYSLOVY PODNIK. Jan. 30, 1968, No.4637/68. Heading F1F. A single spindle rotary pump comprises a casing with a resilient tubular stator firmly connected therein and through which passes a rotary spindle and wherein between part of the resilient stator and the spindle is arranged a longitudinal resilient stator of material less resilient than that of the stator. As shown in Fig. 1, a resilient stator 22 is clamped at the suction end of the pump between a suction branch 31 and the pump casing 21 and a resilient stiffener 24, stiffer than the stator, extends longitudinally between the stator and a rotary screw-threaded spindle 23 and part way round the latter. Pump discharge pressure acts to urge the stator towards the spindle with the stiffener stiff enough to resist deformation and provide a pump chamber between it and the spindle. In another embodiment Figs. 3, 4, the stiffener 32 is flanged at its end and formed with a helical groove 33 into which the material of the resilient stator protrudes. The rotary spindle in this case is substantially oval in cross-section. Other embodiments are also described.
