Abstract

1,181,125. Toothed gearing. HUMBER Ltd. 28 Aug., 1968 [2 June, 1967], No. 25665/67. Headings F2D and F2Q. A closed gear housing 11 has a breathing tube 15 located within an aperture 17 in the wall, the tube 15 extending into an axial bore provided in a rotary shaft 10 and a radial bore 18 being provided between the inner end of the bore and the interior of the housing 11. The tube 15 is mounted in a sleeve 16 which extends into the axial bore and has its outer periphery closely spaced from the axial bore to restrict entry of oil into the bore. Lubricant entering the axial bore is expelled by centrifugal action through the radial bore 18.
