Abstract

[Also in Division G1] A measuring device comprises a graduated measuring scale formed from a flexible strip 12 carried in a slot 11 cut in a surface of the device. The strip 12 is a flexible metal tape rule and is forced into the slot cut in a metal base portion 10. The edges of the rule press against the undercut sides of the slot. The bottom of the slot may be curved or flat and in a modification the slot has a V-shaped cross-section, the flexible strip being upwardly bowed.
