Abstract

1,179,806. Autocycle engine mounting. ATELIERS DE LA MOTOBECANE. 31 July, 1968 [1 Aug., 1967], No. 36569/68. Headings B7E and B7H. ' An autocycle frame formed from pressed steel metal components welded together comprises a tubular forward beam 7 made of two half-shells, and rear fork arms 1 having extensions 3 forward of the base of the seat pillar 28, an engine 9 being pivotally mounted about an axis parallel to the pedal shaft on two supports 11 fixed to the extensions 3, which meet at their forward end and may be joined, by means of a rivet, to a lug 6 formed by a lower welding lip on the forward beam 7 which includes a central reinforcing web 8. Each support 11 includes a sleeve 13 (Fig. 5) in which is fixed the outer member 14 of a resilient bush whose inner member 15 carries the pivotal shaft 10 which passes through a bush 16 of light alloy cast on the engine and which is longitudinally fixed by the spacers 19, 20 and nut 18. The supports 11 may be extended downwards to form lugs 22 for carrying the forward ends of the two shells of a chain case 23. A spring device for maintaining constant tension of the transmission belt comprises a hairspring 24 secured to the lower end of the engine, by means of a bolt 26, and to a lug 25 at the base of the seat pillar. The extensions 3 are welded to the base of the seat pillar and may support the engine in cantilever free from the forward beam 7.
