Abstract

1,179,058. Selective printing; printing proprocesses. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 5 July, 1968 [12 July, 1967], No. 32205/68. Headings B6C and B6F. A printing apparatus comprises, a paper 15 containing a gas within its pores, a tellurium electrode disposed on one side of the paper, and a plurality of pins 14 on the other which are selectively energized to cause ionization of the gas in the medium whereby tellurium ions are deposited to produce printing 20. The gas may be air and independent ionizing means (21), Fig. 2, may be provided. Radiating rays (22) ionize the gas within the printing region and thereby permit lower energy levels employed in a mosaic character generator 10. A beta emitter or an ultra-violet or X-ray emitter alone may be used or the combination of a beta emitter and R.F. excitation from the generator.
