Abstract

1,177,960. Valves. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 18 June, 1968 [26 June, 1967], No. 28670/68. Divided out of 1,177,959. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] A pressure responsive device for indicating the position of a double-acting fluid pressure actuator operating, e.g., a valve, has two Bourdon tubes 28, 29 connected one to each pressure line of the actuator and arranged to move a pointer (not shown) in opposite directions, the movement being imparted by a unidirectional drive such that only pressure rises and not pressure falls move the pointer. The arrangement enables a correct indication of the actuator's position to be given although locked in an actuated position and de-pressurized. Each Bourdon tube carries a link 27 arranged to cause rotation of a pivoted arm 25 having an arcuate rack 26 meshing with a pinion. The pinions are fixed to coaxial shafts each having fixed thereto a respective arm 17 or 18. Pins 14, 15 on the arms 17, 18 push the pointer to a new position when their tube is pressurized, but on de-pressurization the arm returns without moving the pointer.
