Abstract

1,177,951. Refrigerators; cooling liquids. ENGLISH ROSE KITCHENS Ltd. 3 April, 1967 [1 Jan., 1966], No. 18/66. Heading F4H. A refrigerant evaporator located in the upper part of storage apparatus cools a brine or water circuit which includes sprays directed over a milk container or containers located in the lower part of the storage apparatus. As illustrated, the evaporator 36 maintains water in a tank 35 in the frozen state. The tank 35 is surrounded by a brine tank 37 which, together with a spray pipe 51, a collecting sump 54 and a return pipe and pump (not shown), forms a circuit. Sprays 52 are directed over the sides of a milk tank 41 whose inclined open top seats against an indined bottom of the brine tank 37. The milk tank rests on rollers 45 and may be withdrawn from the storage apparatus over door rollers 83. A retractable stirrer 68 is driven by a motor 73. The return pipe opens into the tank 37 above the brine level therein to avoid blockage in the event of a freeze-up. In a modification, Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), the milk tank is pivotally mounted on telescopic arms for withdrawal from the storage apparatus. In another embodiment, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), the apparatus cools individual milk churns.
