Abstract
1,177,794. Continuous concentration or purification using differential adsorption. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIOUE. 19 Jan., 1967 [19 Jan., 1966], No. 2910/67. Heading B1L. A gas mixture, including the desired ingredient, is supplied continuously at 11 to a column in which a granular solid impregnated with a liquid impregnant moves in countercurrent flow to the gas and passes consecutively through an adsorption zone 7, a rectification zone 8, a heating (exhaustion) zone 9 and a cooling zone 10 before being re-cycled to the top; no carrier gas is used. The desired (least adsorbed) ingredient passes through the column and is withdrawn at 12, the other more adsorbed ingredients being withdrawn at 13. A pneumatic conveying system may be used to recycle the absorbent in which case the conveying gas may be saturated with the impregnating liquid. A list of substances which may be separated or purified by the invention is given.
