Abstract
1,177,573. Bi-stable circuits. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. (Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken N.V.). 31 Aug., 1967, No. 39906/67. Heading H3T. A bi-stable circuit combines both " DV " and " JK " functions such that when input V is " 0 " the existing conditions remain irrespective of other inputs, when V is " 1 " and D is 0 the output Q and Q become or remains " 0 " " and " 1 " respectively and if both V and D are " 1 " the circuit functions in " JK " manner for inputs at J and K respectively. The latter function requires the circuit to be set into one or other state in dependence upon which one of inputs J and K is " 1 " and to change its state if both are " I." The circuit is suitable for use in a standard 12 or 14 terminal unit, the remaining terminals being used for a clock input (CP), power supplies and in Fig. 11, not shown, set and reset terminals (E1, E2) for additional J, K and D inputs via logic gates. Circuits based on J.K. flip-flops using NAND gates are briefly described (Figs. 9-12, not shown).
