Abstract

1,177,264. Lift position indicators. DEWHURST & PARTNER Ltd. 22 March, 1968 [30 March, 1967], No. 14653/67. Heading B8L. [Also in Division H1] A device for signalling the position of, e.g. a lift cage, comprises three sets of magneticallyoperable contact units, two sets of which 45, 46 are shown and have hold-on magnetic biasing means 47, 48, and the units are actuated by magnets moved in synchronism with the cage by an electric motor, the arrangement being that a unit in set 45 is closed and a unit in set 46 is opened or vice versa according to the direction of movement, while a unit in the third set is closed only while in the proximity of the magnet. There is one magnet for both sets 45, 46 and one for the third set, arranged on opposite sides of an endless belt driven by the electric motor, which is a stepping motor actuated by floor detectors. Sets 45, 46 control stopping of the lift while the third set operate doors and/or visual indicators. The contact units comprise reed or other magnetic switches, actuated by permanent or electromagnets or movable flux diverter (see Division H1). They are used also for the floor detectors, a set of four being mounted vertically on the lift cage. The centre two have biasing coils by which one or the other is made inoperable according to up or down travel, the three in use providing pulses to the stepping motor in the correct sequence for appropriate direction of rotation.
