Abstract

1,176,915. Radiographic and fluoroscopic apparatus. TORR LABORATORIES Inc. 11 Oct., 1968 [26 Oct.. 1967], No. 48201/68. Heading H5R. An X-ray apparatus for radiographic and fluoroscopic examination and capable of operation from standard electric mains comprises a shielded cabinet 10 having a top, bottom, back and side walls and an enclosing door 12, a shielded housing 14 mounted on top of said cabinet, an X-ray generator mounted in this shielded housing in a position to direct X-rays into said cabinet through the top, and including circuitry adapted to be connected to the said electrical mains to excite the generator, an instrument panel mounted on said shielded housing and connected to the circuit to control the generator, electrical interlock means, connected to the circuitry, and controlled by door 12 so as to de-energize said ,X-ray tube when the door is open; a plurality of support brackets 16 mounted on the facing surfaces of the side walls at spaced intervals therealong supporting a horizontal shelf 18 at given predetermined distances from the top of the cabinet, the shelf being adapted to extend across the interior of cabinet and across the X-ray beam, the shelf being such as to allow the X-rays to pass through a fluorescent screen being mounted on the underside of the shelf, an optical viewing system 36, 38 being mounted on the cabinet such that the image produced on the fluorosoopic screen can be viewed from outside the cabinet, the optical system comprising a transparent member surrounded by a hood 38 and an image reflecting means 36, e.g. mirror or optic fibre bundle, mounted in the cabinet under the shelf to direct the image on the screen to the viewing member 38. The apparatus may comprise a second shelf constituted from an X-ray absorbent material and serving to support on its upper surface an X-ray film, and a workpiece positioned over the film. A timer may be connected into the circuitry operating the X-ray generator so as to regulate the period of exposure. The tube controlling circuitry is particularly described in the Specification.
