[Also in Divisions C2 and C3] A process for making catalysts comprises impregnating an alkali metal salt of an acidic organic ion exchange resin with an aqueous solution of a noble metal salt; drying and reducing. Resins mentioned are polymethaorylic acid and sulphonated polystyrene copolymer. Specified noble metals are palladium rhodium. Reducing the noble salt to the metal is effected with hydrogen. An example describes the preparation of a Pd-loaded sodium salt of a commercial polymethacrylic acid and its use in the preparation of vinyl acetate (see Division C2).
