Abstract

1,176,732. Electrostatic precipitators. G. A. MESSEN-JASCHIN. 22 March, 1967 [23 March, 1966], No. 13406/67. Addition to 1,130,517. Heading B2J. In an electrostatic precipitator as claimed in claim 1 of the Parent Specification, the collector electrode system 30 is rotatable about the axis of a housing, with a peripheral cone 13 at the inflow side and a central cone 16 at the outflow side, and is situated between and carried by the two cones. The ionising electrode assembly is located coaxially inside the collector electrode system 30 which comprises a disposable hollow cylinder 31 of e.g. aluminium wool inside a rotatable cage 32, driven by toothing on a plate 34. The ionizing electrode system is formed as described in the Parent Specification, rotatably mounted on a shaft 25 and cleaned by a rotating brush 51. The electrode systems are rotated at very low speed in opposite directions via gearing and belt drive. Large numbers of units may be grouped together in a block to achieve high throughput and driven by a common motor.
