Abstract

1,176,048. Orthodontic appliances. E. O. BERGERSEN. 4 Dec., 1967 [8 Feb., 1967], No. 55051/67. Heading A5R. For aligning teeth there is provided a set of tooth positioning appliances each one of which is preformed of resilient material, is generally U-shaped in plan and has a tooth receiving trough generally of a size and shape for reception on the teeth of a patient, the trough being defined by lingual and labial-buccal flanges and having tooth receiving depressions, each such appliance being of a size to fit a representative sampling of patients mouths. Preferably six different sizes are provided and the total mesio-distal diameter of the tooth receiving depressions of the upper teeth from the centre incisor through the first molar is from 85-110 mms. Each appliance is preferably made of a transparent plastics material so that potential soft tissue and sore spots may be recognized by blanching.
