1,175,013. Microbicidal benzimidazole compositions. CIBA Ltd. 27 May, 1968 [8 June, 1967], No. 25254/68. Headings A5B and A5E. [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] Antibacterial and antifungal compositions comprise, as active ingredient, a benzimidazole derivative of the general formula wherein X is a chlorine atom or a methyl group, together with a carrier, diluent or surface active agent. The compositions may further contain water, an organic solvent, a light filter, an optical brightener and a further bactericide or fungicide. They may be used as cosmetic, preparations or may be applied to fibres and textile materials by impregnation or by spraying with solutions or suspensions containing the benzimidazole derivative.
