1967; E. Y. Spencer, Guide to the che- micals used in crop protection , London, Ontario, Canada, Seiten 471/472, 5.

EMI0006.0001
Use of Organotin Azolides for Combating Fungi and Microbes The present invention relates to the use of trisubstituted organotin azolides, some of which are known, for combating fungi and microbes outside the textile industry.
It has already become known that a number of organic tin compounds have fungicidal and bactericidal effects. E.g. triphenyl tin hydroxide and triphenyl tin acetate are often used in agriculture (cf. H. Martin, The scientific bases of plant protection, page 245, Verlag Chemie, Weinheim / Bergstr. 1967; EY Spencer, Guide to the chemicals used in crop protection, London, Ontario, Canada, pages 471/472, 5th edition, 1968; German Patent Nos. 950 970 and 1021 627). The stability of these organotin compounds, which - in addition to three tin-carbon links - possesses a tin-oxygen bond, is not always fully satisfactory.
The use of the substances for a microbicidal finish on synthetic fibers, detergents and paints is therefore restricted. It is also known that hydroxydiphenyl and hydroxybenzoic acids, e.g. B. salicylic and 4-hydroxy benzoic acid, are used as antimicrobial agents in the most diverse areas (KH Wallhäusser and H. Schmidt: Sterilization, disinfection, preservation, chemotherapy, Georg Thieme-Verlag, Stuttgart 1967, p. 168 ). However, the action of the compounds mentioned at low application concentrations is not always satisfactory. Finally, it is also known that compounds of the (R) 3Sn-X type are generally microbicidal (L. Grün and H. H. Fricker, Zinn und seine Verw. 61, 14 [1964]).
However, the possible uses of these compounds are limited by their sensitivity to light.
The invention is now characterized by the use of compounds of the formula
EMI0001.0006
in which R, R ', R "are alkyl or cycloalkyl with up to 6 carbon atoms or aryl, which may be substituted by halogen and / or nitro, A and D are carbon or nitrogen atoms, B is CH -Group or for nitrogen, X, X ', X "for hydrogen, for alkyl with up to 6 carbon atoms, for alkenyl with up to 3 carbon atoms or for alkynyl with up to 3 carbon atoms, where X' and X" also together can stand for a (CH) 4 group and in this case form a fused benzene ring,
for combating fungi and microbes outside the textile industry.
Surprisingly, the trisubstituted organotin azolides used according to the invention, which - in addition to three tin-carbon linkages - have a tin-nitrogen bond, are more stable than the previously known triphenyltin hydroxide derivatives therefore particularly suitable for fungicidal and microbicidal finishing of paint films and plastics. Also to be emphasized are the surprisingly high light stability of the connec tions, which is a considerable technical advance it is aimed at.
The substances which can be used according to the invention are generally defined by the above formula (I). In formula (I), R, R ', R "are preferably phenyl, which is preferably substituted by halogen. X, X', X" are preferably hydrogen and alkyl having 1-3 carbon atoms. The following heterocycles may be mentioned as examples of the combinations with A, B and D: imidazolyl, 1,2,4-triazolyl, 1,2,3-triazolyl, pyrazolyl, benzimidazolyl and benzotriazolyl.
Examples of substances that can be used according to the invention are: 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -imidazole 1- [tris- (p-chlorophenyl) -stannyl] -imidazole 1- [diphenyl-p-chlorophenyl-stannyl] -imidazole 1- [Triphenyl-stannyl] -2-methyl-imidazole 1- [Tris- (p-chlorophenyl) -stannyl] -2-methyl-imidazole 1- [Diphenyl-p-chlorophenyl-stannyl] -2-methyl-imidazole 1- [ Triphenyl-stannyl] -2-ethyl-imidazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -2-propyl-imidazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -2-isopropyl-imidazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -4-methyl-imidazole 1 - [Triphenyl-stannyl] -4,5-dimethyl-imidazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -1,2,4-triazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -1,2,
3-triazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -pyrazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -benzimidazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -2-methyl-benzimidazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -2-ethyl-benzimidazole 1- [ Triphenyl-stannyl] -2-n-propyl-benzimidazole 1- [diphenyl-p-chlorophenyl-stannyl] -benzimidazole 1- [triphenyl-stannyl] -benzotriazole 1- [tributyl-stannyl] -imidazole 1- [tributyl-stannyl] -1,2; 4-triazole Some of the substances that can be used according to the invention are already known, for example triphenyltin-imidazole and triphenyltin-1,2,4-triazole (Chimia 16, 10-15 [1962]; Recueil des Travaux Chimiques) des Pays-Bas 81, 202-205 [1962] and 82, 1181-88 [1963]).
Some of the substances that can be used according to the invention are new, but they can be prepared in a simple manner by known methods, e.g. B. through the conversion of triphenyltin chloride with the sodium salt of azole in liquid ammonia, also through the conversion of bis-triphenyltin oxide with the azole in benzene by azeotropic distillation (Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas 82, 1181 [1963]). Furthermore, the substances of the formula (I) used according to the invention can also be obtained by using triphenyltin chloride or bromide with an azole, such as. B.
Imidazole, pyrazole, 1,2,3-triazole, in a polar organic solvent in the temperature range between 50 and 150 C, preferably between 80 and 120 C, is implemented. One uses 1 mol of triphenyltin halide with 1 mol of azole and 1-2 mol of acid binder, but exceeding or falling below the stated stoichiometric amounts by up to 25 mol percent does not lead to any significant change in the yields achieved. The acid binding can also take place through an excess of the azole. A catalytic amount of potassium iodide can be added to accelerate the reaction. The reaction products are isolated by stripping off the solvent with water.
As already mentioned, the substances which can be used according to the invention are distinguished by a good fungicidal and microbicidal action. In their microbicidal effectiveness, the compounds surpass known commercial products such. B. triphenyl tin hydroxide and triphenyl tin acetate. Because of their light stability, the substances can be used with particular advantage for the microbicidal treatment of paint films, where light stability plays a major role. The active ingredients have only a low toxicity, so that nothing stands in the way of their practical application.
Due to their superior antimicrobial effect, which extends to a wide range of microorganisms, the compounds are suitable for many purposes of disinfection, preservation and antimicrobial finishing. They also show an algicidal effect.
The following microorganisms whose control is of economic importance are to be mentioned: Aspergillus niger, Penicillium camerunense and Paecilomyces varioti as representatives of resistant molds, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes as a common athlete's foot. Candida albicans and Saccharo- mydes spec. belong to the yeasts that often appear as pathogenic forms. Escherichia coli, Bacterium proteus, Pseudomonas pyocyanea and Staphylococcus aureus belong to the gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, and some of them are pathogenic.
As mentioned, the compounds which can be used according to the invention can also be used as additives to coating slips. Coating color approaches made of pure organic Mate rials or mixtures of inorganic and organic materials spoil namely in the usual Vorratsbehäl tern within a few hours. By adding the active substances that are added to the coating color, the latter is protected from severe attack by microorganisms.
Compared to numerous other known organotin compounds, the active ingredients of the present application are not only distinguished by the good microbicidal activity mentioned, but they also have a high stability in paint films, even with intensive exposure.
The substances which can be used according to the invention also show good effectiveness against phytopathogenic fungi. The compounds can be used, for example, for combating fungi of the genus Phytophthora in crop protection.
The substances which can be used according to the invention can be used in a mixture with other known fungicides, bactericides, algicides, viricides, furthermore with acaricides, insecticides and, if appropriate, rodenticides.
The active compounds which can be used according to the invention can be converted into the customary formulations, such as solutions, emulsions, suspensions, powders, pastes and granules. These formulations (or preparations) are produced in a known manner, for example by mixing the active ingredients with extenders, that is to say liquid diluents and / or solid carriers, optionally using surface-active agents.
The formulations generally contain between 0.1 and 95% active ingredient, preferably between 0.5 and 90%. Example A Microbicidal Action / Preservation of Coating Slips The active ingredients are added directly to the coating slips. The necessary concentrations (g of active ingredient per liter of coating color formulation) can be seen in the table.
In the table: - no spoilage by microorganisms, + spoilage by microorganisms.
The assessment is carried out by spreading out after 24, 48 and 72 hours on nutrient media and subsequent incubation.
