Abstract
1,174,987. Sheet feeding; separating. VIDOSA S.A. 20 June, 1967 [24 June, 1966], No. 28321/67. Heading B8R. Sheet-feeding apparatus comprises a plurality of lifting members arranged above a stack and at least two feed rollers on the delivery side of the stack, the lifting members being mounted on a longitudinally displaceable cross member and arranged to execute a curved working stroke comprising horizontal and vertical motion by means of a power-operated lever system in the form of a parallelogram. Fig. 1 illustrates apparatus in which a stack of sheets 29 is mounted on a table 25 which can be raised or lowered under the control of a piston unit 27. Sheet separation is performed by suction cups 9 mounted on a cross-beam 8 which is carried on carriage 6 reciprocable along rods 5; the suction cups have conventional vacuum connections and controls and sheet separation is assisted by compressed air nozzles (not shown), or, in the case of magnetic sheets, by magnets 30. The suction cups 9 execute a curved working stroke to deliver the top sheet 32 to feed rollers 3, 4, the cross beam 8 which supports the suction cups 9 undergoing simultaneous horizontal and vertical motion under the control of piston-rod 11 associated with cylinder 13 and linkage, generally indicated at 40, substantially in the form of a parallelogram (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown). Movement of piston-rod 11, under the control of a pressurized fluid medium, results in the linkage 40 swivelling about pivots (18), (19), which are fixed to carriage 6; the suction cups are kept horizontal by this linkage during the sheet-feeding stroke. The cylinder 13 can be rocked about hinge 15 with respect to bracket 14 and carriage 6.
