Abstract

1,174,258. Safety helmets. STADIUM Ltd. 15 Dec., 1967 [19 Dec., 1966], No. 56817/66. Heading A3V. [Also in Division H4] A safety helmet 20 whose rim extends below the ears has a pair of earpieces 23, 31 mounted on resilient mountings 11, 30 within the helmet such that the earpieces enclose a respective ear, each resilient mounting comprising a main U-shape slidably carrying an earpiece each arm being in the form of a secondary U-shape, perpendicular to the main one, the free ends of which are secured to the helmet. The helmet has openings over each earpiece 21, 22 which may be covered by a cover flap of flexible material. The earpieces are domes of rigid material with a hole to equalise pressure and a rim of resilient padding 24, 32. The helmet may be of fixed size or incorporate an adjustable headband. Loops 26, 33 attached to each earpiece are used to pull them apart to enable the wearer to insert his head.
