Abstract

1,173,924. Tunnels &c. MOTT, HAY & ANDERSON. 3 Oct., 1967 [4 Oct., 1966], No. 44167/66. Heading E1F. In a lining formed of fabricate sections each comprising an outer concrete portion and an inner waterproof skin section the edges of a skin section are joined in a watertight manner to the edges of adjacent skin sections. The skin sections 14 are steel and have spaced hooks engaging the reinforcement of the concrete portions 12. The edges 18, 19 of the portions 12 are curved and provided with holes 21 for pins (not shown) supporting angles 22 for holding the sections in place. Voids between the portions are grouted, the angles are removed, caulking 25 is inserted and straps (not shown) are welded to 'the adjacent edges of the skin sections. The tunnel has a roadway 11 and may be beneath the earth or lie on a sea bed.
