Abstract
1,173,877. ice cream cone moulds. J. GRECO. 24 Dec., 1968 [23 Jan., 1968], No. 3510/68. Heading B5A. Moulds for making ice-cream cones each comprise mould halves (one of which is shown in Fig. 1) and a core or plug (Fig. 3, not shown), wherein the thickness of the metal of the mould halves is relieved e.g. at areas 1, to give uniform heating of the mould halves, and having outlets 4 for escape of steam and surplus batter. A steam-tight seal is provided between the mouth of the mould and the plug base by coacting frusto-conical surfaces 5A, and (5B, Fig. 3) respectively. The plug may be lifted from the mould in an arcuate curve, and may be provided with a conical part having a varying angle between the surface and longitudinal axis thereof, which angle increases towards the apex of the part. Alternatively, the plug base and mould mouth may have part-spherical coacting surfaces (9B, 9A, respectively, Fig. 4, not shown) to provide a seal, the plug being mounted yieldingly on the plug carrier (8) to be selfseating. Mechanism (Figs. 5, 6, not shown) to lift the plugs longitudinally from the moulds is described. A gas burner (Figs. 7-9, not shown) may comprise a spiral tubular element (25) having inclined gas outlets (25X) rotatably mounted by ball bearings (30) on support (27) which has a gas inlet (26) and variable air inlets (27X).
