Abstract
1,173,629. Roller conveyers. SANKI ENG. CO. Ltd. 7 Dec., 1967 [10 Dec., 1966], No. 55645/67. Heading B8A. In an accumulating type roller conveyer, when an article G is halted by a stop S, a roller 15, normally driven by engagement with an endless belt 18, is caused, by reaction, to move longitudinally in the direction of travel of the upper run of the belt. This movement causes a pressure roller 26 to be lowered and drive between the belt and the roller 15 to be disengaged. Drive to a roller 14 is also disengaged. The shaft 15a of the roller 15 is normally urged upstream of the conveyer by a spring support 27 which carries a bearing 29 for the pressure roller shaft 26a. The support 27 also engages the shaft 14a of the roller 14. A bearing 28 for the roller shaft 15a is located in a horizontal slot 17 in a side frame 11. The articles G are also supported by idler rollers 16. In a modification, Figs. 6-9 (not shown), the rollers (14, 15) are supported in bearings (31a, 31b) which have apertures (32) to permit adjustment of the tensioning of the spring supports (27). A further modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), comprises a spring support (34) made of resilient plastics. In Fig. 11, bearings 37a, 37c are held in position by retaining members 41 and by the edges of rectangular slots 36a, 36c. For a bearing 37b of the roller 15 horizontally elongated slot 36b is provided. Pads 18b attached to the endless belt increase the pressure exerted on the rollers 14, 15. The shafts of the rollers 14, 15, 16 are maintained stationary by stops (43), Fig. 12 (not shown).
