Abstract

1,173,252. Phosphate tri-esters of 3-halo-2,2- bis-(bromomethyl) propan-1-ol. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 5 Jan., 1968 [16 Jan., 1967], No. 872/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Novel phosphate tri-esters of the alcohol of formula (CH 2 Br) 2 (CH 2 X)C.CH 2 OH, wherein X is Cl or Br, are prepared by reacting either the alcohol or 3,3-bis-(bromomethyl) oxetane with POCl 3 or POBr 3 , preferably in the presence of a solvent. The products have fire retardant properties.
