[Also in Division C5] Fluoro- or chlorofluoro-vinyl derivatives of the formula wherein each of X and X<SP>1</SP> is a chlorine or fluorine atom and R<SP>11</SP> is an aryl group, an aromatic fluorohydrocarbon group, a saturated aliphatic fluoro-hydrocarbon group or an unsaturated aliphatic fluorohydrocarbon group other than perfluorovinyl, are prepared by heating, in the presence of copper at from 100 to 200‹ C, compounds of the formula either alone or together with compounds of the formula R<SP>11</SP>-I. The invention also comprises as novel compounds #-chloro-heptafluorostyrene and 1-chloronona-fluoro-pent-1-ene, which may be obtained by the above process. Decafluorodiphenyl is obtained as a byproduct of one of the above processes.
