Abstract

[Also in Division H1] In a dielectric heating apparatus comprising a high-frequency generator having a cavity resonator from which power is picked up by a loop, it is stated that frequency drift caused by loading may be reduced by setting the central plane of the loop at an angle of from 20 to 55 degrees to the plane containing the axis of the cavity and the centre of the loop. The pick-up loop may be pre-set to the required angle, or it may be arranged for adjustment by rotation about its axis. As described for a cylindrical cavity of circular cross-section 10, Fig. 3, a loop 16a may project through the upper wall 15 of the cavity, or a loop 16b may project through the cylindrical side wall 11 of the cavity. An adjustable loop may be mounted on a rotatable base 24, Fig. 3, and a split ring 23, the latter being inside a bearing ring 22 which is fixed in the upper wall 15 of the cavity.
