Abstract

1,171,338. Explosive charges. USM CORP. 31 Jan., 1967 [1 Feb., 1966], No. 4555/67. Heading F3A. [Also in Division C3] An explosive charge in pellet form, adapted for use in the combustion chamber of an explosively actuated tool, comprises a compacted mass of fibrous nitrocellulose with air entrapped between the fibres, the nitrocellulose mass having a nitrogen content not exceeding 15% by wt. and a density of 0À6-1À6 gm./cm.<SP>3</SP> As shown, the charge 10 has an annulus shape 12 and is bridged by a web 14 thinner than the annulus, and which may have a centrally thickened portion 18, there being a recess 16 adapted to receive the striker means of said tool. The web may alternatively be placed midway along the annulus.
