1,171,112. Substituted phenoxyalkylguanidines. WELLCOME FOUNDATION Ltd. 7 Dec., 1966 [7 Sept., 1965], No. 38265/65. Addition to 993,581 Heading C2C. Novel compounds of Formula (I) and acid addition salts thereof wherein R is alkoxy or halogen and Z is H, alkyl alkoxy or halogen, are prepared by various standard methods, e.g. the corresponding phenoxyalkylamine is reacted with s-methylthiouronium sulphate. The substituted phenoryalkylamine starting materials are prepared by reduction of the corresponding nitriles which are themselves prepared by reaction of an appropriate phenol and a halo-alkylnitrile. Pharmaceutical compositions having hypotensive action and being in conventional forms for oral, parenteral or rectal administration comprise an above novel compound or salt and one or more carriers or diluents &c.
