Abstract

1,171,030. Sound absorbing laminate. O. C. ECKEL. 26 Oct., 1967, No. 48768/67. Heading B5N. A sound absorbing member comprises a wall member 10 having perforations 12, a panel 14 on one side of the wall member, the panel having planar portions 18 and a plurality of ridge portions 16, both the portions 16 and 18 containing perforations 20, the longitudinal apexes of the ridge portions 16 lying in a plane parallel to the plane of the portions 18, and a sound absorptive member which includes sound absorptive material 24, lying on the side of the panel 14 remote from the wall member 10, and spaced from the member 10 by the ridge portions 16. As described, the wall member 10 is of metal, the portions 16 are narrower than the portions 18, the sound absorptive member consists of a screen or wire mesh 22 adjacent the panel 14, a second wall member 26, which may be perforated, and sound absorptive fibre-glass 24 which may be enveloped in a fibre-glass cloth. In a second embodiment, not shown, a rigid panel similar to the panel 14 is placed between that panel and the member 10 with its projecting portions extending perpendicular to those of the panel 14. The member may be used on walls, floors, or ceilings.
