Abstract

1,170,895. Process for sulphonating phthalocyanines. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODAFABRIK A.G. 2 Feb., 1968 [4 Feb., 1967 (2)], No. 5422/68. Heading C4P. [Also in Division C3] Green pigment dyes are prepared by reacting a phthalocyanine compound containing one or more phenyl groups linked directly to the phthalocyanine nucleus at above 20‹ C. with sulphuric acid having a concentration of more than 50% by weight, e.g. 85 to 92%, until the reaction product has a sulphur content of 0À1 to 3À5% by weight. Tetraphenyl nickel, cobalt and copper phthalocyanines are used, and the products may be converted to salts by reaction with salts of calcium, magnesium or zinc or with ammonia and amines. The pigments give green shades on polyamides by mass coloration.
