Abstract

In a tape transport arrangement mounted on a base 10, threading of the tape is facilitated by a slot 24 in a guide panel 12 which defines the tape path between a feed spool 18 and a take-up member 22 formed with pins 72, 74 to allow edgewise access of the tape. With the end portion of the tape positioned across the take-up member between the pins, the tape is automatically secured to the member when it and the tape are driven. The arrangement includes buffer rollers 28, 42 mounted on spring-loaded arms 44, 46 and a pressure roller 38 which automatically moves the tape into contact with the capstan 36 when a cover 14 is lowered, and is moved away from the capstan automatically or manually, when the cover is raised. Means including an expandable washer or like arrangement are provided for quickly securing the feed spool.
