Abstract

1,170,228. Permanent magnet electric motors. SIEMENS A.G. 26 July, 1968 [27 July, 1967], No. 35920/68. Heading H2A. An electric motor has a cup-shaped housing 1 of ferromagnetic material with two arcuate permanent magnets 3 retained within the housing and a magnetic return path comprising a ring 7 of resilient material surrounding and gripping the housing. The magnets may be stuck to the housing or secured by spring plates 2 which have bent-over ends 4, to hold the magnets, and are attached to the housing by rivets 5. The rivet heads engage the return path ring 7 to prevent rotation and axial displacement, the ring being positioned with split 9 as shown. Bearing 12 is supported in lugs 10 formed in the housing and at the other end supports 13 are integrally formed with the housing. Arms 16 formed on ring 14 are provided for securing a series resistance and a second end shield is secured by rivets in holes 15.
